Devoleena Bose, People’s Opinion: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has strongly criticized the central government over the Citizenship Act and NRC, saying that they only emerge during elections and are being used to divide Indians on religious grounds.

The BJP is pushing for the implementation of NRC in West Bengal, with Leader of Opposition Subhendu Adhikari demanding that all parties support the move. However, Adhikari’s comments make it clear that the Congress party is opposing the idea, as they see it as a divisive tactic used by the government to polarise voters.
